Manchester City midfielder Jack Grealish has shown just why the club splashed a mammoth £100 million to sign him this summer after a fine showing for the Cityzens in their first UEFA Champions League game of the season. The Sky Blue outfit hosted German Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday night in their Champions League opener and they turned out in style, thumping the German side 6-3 in what was an overly emphatic tie between the two free-scoring sides.

The nine-goal thriller was a very exciting one to watch as fans who watched the game were convinced that it was the best decision to have decided to take some time out to experience the game.

Grealish capped a brilliant performance with a goal and an assist on the might and he could not be happier after bagging a goal and an assist in his very first game in the competition. The former Aston Villa midfirkder teed up his teammate Nathan Ake fke the first goal after 16 minutes into the match and it was a fine combination from the two

The second goal came in the 28th minute and it was an own goal as Nordi Mukiele put the ball past his own goalkeeper and into his own net. Christopher Nkunku scored an impressive hat-trick for Leipzig but his excellent three-goal performance would be clouded by the dominant City players. Riyad Mahrez scored City’s third goal from the penalty spot while Grealish struck in the 56th minute to get his first European goal.

Joao Cancelo and Gabriel Jesus scored the fifth and sixth goals respectively and while City manager Pep Guardiola was happy with his players, he would be particularly pleased with his star signing Grealish for being so useful in what was his best performance in a City shirt so far.
